Strawberry and Banana Dessert Parfait With Yogurt

Strawberry and Banana Dessert Parfait With Yogurt – A Simple, Fresh Treat

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries: Hulled and sliced. Choose ripe, fragrant berries for the best flavor.
  • Yogurt: Plain or vanilla. Greek yogurt gives extra thickness and protein; regular yogurt is lighter.
  • Sweetener (optional): Honey or maple syrup, to taste.
  • Crunchy layer: Granola, crushed graham crackers, toasted oats, or chopped nuts.
  • Vanilla extract (optional): A small splash deepens the flavor if using plain yogurt.
  • Lemon juice (optional): A squeeze keeps bananas from browning and brightens the fruit.
  • Pinch of salt: Just a tiny pinch enhances sweetness and rounds out flavors.
  • Garnishes (optional): Shaved dark chocolate, coconut flakes, chia seeds, or fresh mint.

Instructions

  • Prep the fruit: Rinse and slice the strawberries. Peel and slice the bananas. If you like, toss banana slices with a little lemon juice to slow browning.
  • Sweeten the yogurt (if needed): In a bowl, stir the yogurt with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, a splash of vanilla, and a tiny pinch of salt. Taste and adjust so it’s lightly sweet but not dessert-sweet.
  • Choose your crunch: Use granola for a classic feel, graham crackers for a dessert vibe, or toasted nuts for a richer, nutty note. Keep some extra for topping.
  • Start layering: Spoon a layer of yogurt into the bottom of a glass or jar. Add a few strawberry slices and banana coins on top.
  • Add the crunch: Sprinkle a modest layer of your crunchy element. Don’t press it down—light layering keeps the parfait airy.
  • Repeat: Continue with another layer of yogurt, then fruit, then crunch until you reach the top. Aim for at least two full sets of layers for visual appeal and balanced bites.
  • Finish strong: Top with a final dollop of yogurt, a few standout strawberry slices, and a light sprinkle of crunchy topping. Add garnishes like a mint leaf or a few chocolate shavings if you want extra polish.
  • Serve or chill: Serve immediately for maximum crunch. For a softer, cake-like texture, chill for 15–30 minutes so the layers settle and flavors meld.
